Jamaal Brown
Women's Varsity Head Coach
Coach Jamaal Brown brings a winning pedigree, deep basketball knowledge, and a heart for ministry to the Northside family as the new Girls Basketball Coach. With 67 career wins as a head coach and two Coach of the Year honors, Coach Jamaal has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead, mentor, and build successful programs.
As a former collegiate player at Western Kentucky and Cal State Fullerton, Coach Jamaal experienced championship-level basketball firsthand—winning a conference title at WKU and competing in both the NCAA Tournament and the NIT. His standout high school career included a 2002 State Championship at Spartanburg High School, over 1,000 career points and rebounds, and recognition as the 4A Player of the Year and a three-time All-State and All-Region selection.
After college, he played professionally for five years and worked out for eight NBA teams, gaining invaluable experience at the highest levels of the game. Now, he brings that wealth of experience to the sidelines to mentor and develop young athletes.
Coach Jamaal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, as well as two Master’s degrees in Education. His commitment to both academic and athletic excellence reflects his holistic approach to developing student-athletes.
Beyond the court, Coach Jamaal is passionate about using basketball as a platform for ministry. He is excited to be part of the Northside community, where he can build meaningful relationships with students and staff, and most importantly, help lead students and athletes to Christ.
Coach Jamaal and his wife Diva have five wonderful children—Jase, Jamyah, Jordyn, Joshua, and Justin. Together, their family is thrilled to be joining the Northside family and is ready to serve wholeheartedly—both in athletics, ministry and faith.
