The Crusader varsity volleyball team closed out region play at home last night with a sweep of Thomas Sumter Academy. Scores were 25-11, 25-17 and 25-6.
NCA used good distribution of the ball from senior setter Emily Colby to get nine different players involved in attacks. A team hitting percentage of .372 was highlighted by sophomore middle Reagan Funderburk’s .562 along with 10 kills. Lauren Reynolds led the team in kills with 11. Junior Alexa Brownell added seven kills with no hitting errors on 16 attacks. Middle Kailyn Koontz and Funderburk led the defense at the net with two block kills each.
The Crusaders dominated the region this season sweeping each of the other teams. In addition to not losing a set in region, NCA held region opponents to a phenomenal average 11.6 points per set.
The region champions close out their season next Tuesday at home versus Ben Lippen.
