An email sent from Coach Howell:
Good afternoon. I hope this email finds each of you well. I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that we have seen huge growth in our football program over the last 2 years and are looking to continue by adding another team. Last year we had a group of 6th-8th graders for middle school who went 4-3 and a varsity group who played 11-man football in a region, competitively, and went 6-5 while qualifying for the state playoffs. Our varsity squad went to number two seed Colleton Prep and played them to a 7-7 tie at the half before running out of steam and losing 27-7. That being said, we would like to take our program to the next level by establishing a JV team that would consist of 8th and 9th graders only and a middle school team that would consist of grades 5th-7th.
I am writing to see how many 5th and 6th graders we have who are interested in playing now that we could mix them in with kids more their age/ ability level. We would love to ultimately have close to 30 per team and right now we are around 17 each. Also, would any 7th graders who didn't play last year be interested this year? I'm asking families to talk about it anyone who might be interested would you please respond to this email and let me know that? Lastly, we have begun our after-school workouts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for our young athletes and we'd love to have you start attending that as well. This focuses on body weight exercises and an introduction to weight training so that we might begin training more seriously by the time our athletes are in high school. We would need an active physical and some paperwork done before they could join us but that would be good for a full calendar year if we went ahead and got it done now.
Again, hope you all are well and hope to hear from a bunch of you about growing Northside football!!!!
