Men's Varsity Baseball - April 29

On a beautiful Tuesday night at the Northside Athletic Complex, the Northside Christian Crusaders crushed the Dillon Christian Warriors, 9-1, in front of a standing room only crowd, securing NCA’s first ever home playoff win. The opening round win for NCA was a huge success as the Crusaders advanced in the winners bracket to play Williamsburg Academy Friday night at 6:30pm. During the game, Northside got a huge night from senior Charlie Compton, who blasted his first home run of the year and had 4 RBI on the game. Mikah Conner also notched his 6th HR of the season.

Northside Christian (19-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. David Lee Clamp put the Crusaders on the board with an RBI double down the left field line. Mikah Conner and David Lee Clamp later scored on pass balls in the inning. Compton made it 4-0 in the 2nd with an RBI single and Conner scored off an error in the 3rd to make it 5-0. In the 5th inning, with Andy Gwyn on base, Compton sent a 1-0 pitch over the leftfield wall to extend the lead to 7-0. Conner followed with a leadoff solo home run in the bottom of the 5th and Compton then scored off a RBI fielder’s choice in the 6th.

“Robert McMillan pitched 6 outstanding scoreless innings on the mound, and we got some timely hits to put us in control early,” stated assistant coach Andy Phillips. The Crusaders are looking forward to another huge playoff game tomorrow night. It will be another fun and exciting time for all of Crusader Nation, as well as the Lexington community! Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
